Repoint to Website Manager

Self Managed Domains

Domain Management Guide:

Transitioning from Emerald Platform to Website Manager

A self-managed domain is an internet domain name that you directly oversee and manage, rather than delegating its management to a third-party service provider. This practice gives you comprehensive control over your domain's settings, including the DNS configuration, email setup, subdomains, and more.

Because you are solely responsible for the configuration and maintenance of your domain, any changes or migrations affecting your domain's DNS settings will require your direct intervention.

Since you are managing your own domain, you possess complete control over all configurations. Consequently, any change to the platform hosting your website necessitates manual adjustments in your domain settings to reflect these changes.

Determining who owns a domain name is often a straightforward process using publicly available tools and databases. We suggest using the WHOIS domain lookup.

Plan to repoint your domain within 24 hours of the migation date to ensure a seamless transition to Website Manager. Preparing this information in advance will help facilitate a smooth and expedited change.

It is critical to complete the repointing process and activate your new SSL certificate to maintain the security and trustworthiness of your website.

When a website is insecure, an example of what may be displayed is a warning message that says "Your connection is not private" or "Not secure" in the address bar of the browser. This can indicate that the website does not have a valid SSL certificate or may be vulnerable.

An SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate is a digital certificate that authenticates a website's identity and enables an encrypted connection. Please note that the SSL certificate for your Site Admin site will no longer be valid. If you do not reach out to us to activate a new SSL certificate, your website may appear as insecure to visitors.
